Scheduled Backups: What Happens If You Forget To Turn On The Hdd?

Recommended Posts

Hiya,

Back in June, I set up a script, to run an automated backup every night. Well, I've been so busy lately, I forgot to turn on the Ext. HDD. If I left it on 24/7 - it would get too hot.

Yesterdays log file says "No files need to be copied." and the thermometer is greyed out.

I have a lot lot that. What should I do with them? They are in the "Events" tab.

Thanks.

Is the HDD you forget to turn on part of the source of the backup or part of the destination?

"No files nedded to be copied" means that nothing has changed on the source since the last backup (to the same backup set).

Thanks Lennart for the reply.

The HDD is the destination. C/ is the source.

Thanks Lennart for the reply.

The HDD is the destination. C/ is the source.

Just to be nitpicking: The destination is always a "backup set", which may be a "disk backup set", where the HDD is a "member". :)

Anyway, you should have gotten some "waiting for media" messages when the HDD was turned off. Or you don't use e-mail notification?

Email notification for Roxio Retrospect? That the script didn't go off as planned? Nope. I never received notifications of any kind.

It says in the log, (among other things,) "Operation cancelled by User." --Not. :) Or something like that. I guess it timed out.

OK, if you never set up e-mail notification in the preferences, you would never receive any.  :)

Right, it probably times out.

Now, is there a question I forget to answer?
