siebers
I know that Retrospect performs deduplication during backup on a file-by-file basis. However, for packages, such as an application or an Aperture library, is this deduplication done with respect to each individual file in the package, or is the package considered to be a single entity? Thanks!
Lennart_T
It's on file-by-file basis. My iPhoto Library (package) doesn't get backed up (as a whole), only the added pictures after an import in iPhoto. A package is just a folder, with a flag that tells Finder: "show this as it was file". If you look at a package in Terminal, it's just like any other folder. Mayoff
Retrospect looks at each item inside a package and manages those individual items one by one. The entire package is not recopied if only a single item inside changes.
