Guest johnwmreed
I am trying out my Retrospect Emergency Recovery CD to be sure that it works. I have two computers with Win 7 Pro installed. My backup files and catalogs are stored on a single Western Digital NAS drive (ShareSpace). Booting my 32 bit computer using the Retrospect Emergency Recovery CD I am able to map the network drive (\\WDSHARESPACE\Backup), but doing the exact same procedure on my 64 bit computer I get the following error messages depending on whether I place a "\" at the end of the UNC address: System error 67 has occurred The nework name cannot be found System error 53 has occurred The network path was not found The fact that using the exact same procedure and UNC address for my 32 bit computer works, but the same exact procedure and UNC address on my 64 bit computer fails is puzzling. Does anybody have a suggestion what is wrong?
Mayoff
It could be that the WinPE boot CD does not contain a valid network driver. You may need to select/add the network driver upon startup.
Guest johnwmreed
I have found a network adapter on my 64 bit computer (rt64win7.inf) that I load into my Retrospect Emergency Recovery program at the step: "Load drivers for network or storage adapters." This driver is accepted by the recovery program. I assume that since the recovery program accepts this driver it will execute the next step (Map network drive) successfully. Is there something wrong with this logic? Is it possible that the recovery program accepts this network driver and still cannot find my network drive? In other words, am I using the wrong driver? Mayoff
The recovery disk is using a standard WinPE boot image. The drivers are being accepted by WinPE, but it is possible they are still the wrong driver. Try the 32 bit Network driver for that card. You can also try a driver based off of vista. Guest johnwmreed
The 32 bit drivers don't work at all. I found a few more 64 bit drivers. They all work, but I still can't map the network drive. I even tried the ip address (\\192.168.0.115\Backup) and that doesn't work also. I am beginning to get suspicious that this WinPE doesn't work well with 64 bit machines. I guess if I get in trouble I will just reinstall Win 7 Pro, Retrospect and then do a restore - I was hoping the recovery disk would work.
