Restoring from Retrospect 4 Internet Backup Set

Recommended Posts

I have an old backup on an ftp server that was last updated from OS 9 by Retrospect 4.x.

For some reason I can't access the ftp server via Retrospect 5.

I tried copying the backup directory to my hard disk, but Retrospect 5 does not recognize the files as valid.

Any idea what I can do (besides boot into OS 9, reinstall Retrospect 4, etc.)?

Are you able to access the directory under OS X using any other FTP software?

If so, make sure that the ethernet adapter is listed first in your Network Preferences pane (System Preferences/Network/Show active network ports).

Some users have reported problems if the Internal Modem or other adapter is listed first.

Yes, I am able to ftp to the directory using Interarchy.

I changed the order in Network Preferences as you suggested (thanks), but still get an empty root (/) directory when I log in (Restore: Restore files from a backup: More: Rebuild: Internet backup set).

I tried copying all the backup files to my hard disk, but Retrospect doesn't seem to recognize them as valid.
