darrick
We need some Unix backup clients for Linux, Hp-Ux and others.
EricU
Absolutely! We're working on Linux clients right now, with popular UNIX flavors to follow. Stay tuned...
richardwall
I've been trying the demo version of Retrospect 5.6 and am very impressed, but have you got any idea when Unix / Linux clients will be available? And will there be a Linux version of the main backup program? Because if any of these are going to be implemented soon, I might wait before buying. Is there a beta Linux version that we could try?
Mayoff
Some time this year, I just don't know when.
richardwall
Thanks for your swift reply. So will that be the Unix client or the full server that's released this year? If full server, will it require a graphical interface or can it be controlled from command line. So many questions:)
Mayoff
Retrospect the application is not being release for Unix/Linux, only the Retrospect Clients.
gaige
If you are working on "Linux" versions, are you folks planning on testing FreeBSD as well? Considering that many/most Linux binaries can run on FreeBSD with the compatibility layer in place, it would seem relatively simple. Plus, considering that MacOS X is much closer to FreeBSD than to Linux, it would be a natural for support. I don't know how widespread the requests would be, but there are many of us in the networking community (and the OS X community now) that would love to see support for FreeBSD as well as Linux. [Frankly, I'd be happy to see it in lieu of Linux, but I'm sure the market is less concerned as a general rule than I am]. Thanks, -Gaige
