AIT2 drive and Retrospect 6.5 error -100

Hi,

 

After a theft of most of our computers including our backup server MacOs 10.2.

 

I try to use retrospect latest 6.5 on a windows 2003 server and external usb2 drive lacie AIT2.

 

It seems I cannot use the AIT2 drive (even it is in the list of supported device) it claims an error when I try to write of erase the tape: erreor -100 the drive rejected the command.

 

I have the same problem when I use the drive on win XP SP2 workstation for testing.

The drive works well, I used it to restore our files on a macosx 10.3 workstation and even erased some tapes.

 

Is there something I missed on windows installation?

I used the latest retrospect 6.5 and RDU for it.

I used the latest lacie drivers and sony ones.

 

Please help.

Sorry to hear about the theft.

 

Windows 2003 has a built in backup utility called NT backup. If you run a small test backup with that utility do any errors occur?

I am doing my testing on a windows XP box. but I can't see any removabled media with nt backup.

Can you explain that statement a bit more? I don't quite follow.

Is the Windows removeable storage manager service running? You will need that to run the test backup with NT backup.

 

Retrospect does not need that service.

Hi,

 

I give up using the drive connected usb2 or firewire.

I found on google a large problem on this lacie drive used on Windows.

 

Do whe have open the drive and are now using corectly whitout changing anything using the IDE connection.
