patriciop84
Recently we switched out 4 Dell Latitudes running Win2K with new ones running XP. I set up all the computers the same way and everything seemed to be fine. Then I went to Retrospect running on a Mac G4 to add the new computers to the backup scripts and found that only two of the four new computers showed up on the network. I went back to the laptops and made sure the client software was loaded and waiting for initial contact and they were. I ended up uninstalling the client and reinstalling more than once to make sure that was not the problem. Anyway, I cannot figure out what is going on. I made sure that the old computer names were forgotten and tried to add the clients by IP (even though we use DHCP) just to see if that would work but no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
natew
Hi The most common cause for this is firewalls blocking port 497. Have you tried disabling all firewalls temporarily to see if that helps? Thanks Nate
