JamieMurdock
After months of successful backups via Retrospect Express HD on Maxtor OneTouch, last night's failed. I had just added many digital photos to the hard drive in several subdirectories of the My Photos folder. Normal backup using DirectBackup at 7/20/2005 2:01 AM Grooming Backup Set RestorePoint... michaeln
Hi Jamie, It sounds like your Restore Point Catalog File may be corrupt. Please try removing the RestorePoint.rbc file located in the Retrospect Restore Points folder on your Maxtor HD. Once you've removed that file and launched ExpressHD, it should begin to recreate the RestorePoint.rbc file.
JamieMurdock
This worked beautifully, thanks. It took a couple of hours to rebuild the catalog, but 88 restore points appeared. Then the nagging error "can't save setup, check the selected drive to make sure there is enough free space" also disappeared. This error occurred after attempting to run the setup wizard. After doing the setup wizard successfully, I waited for automatic execution last night. It groomed the restore points it down from 88 to 15 in order to fit 8 GB of new digital photos from our cross-country drive. All is well, thanks. bdc
Hi, I experience the same problem. I have removed the catalog file from the backup folder. After Retrospect Express HD 1.1 rebuilt it, everything was ok. Now, a couple of weeks further, the problem is there again. The same error occures. The backups work fine and there are no other error messages.. Thanks for any help on fixing this problem permanently. Bart
dinked
I'm a newbie on this forum. By chance has there been a posting with a solution to this issue. I'm experiencing the same exact thing you are (i.e., rebuilding the catalog provides a short-term fix until the error comes back).
David777
Hello Dinked. Once retrospect express HD is updated to 1.1, if there are issues even after rebuilding the catalog file, you might want to consider deleting your previous Backups and starting fresh, by deleting the retrospect restore points folder on the external drive. This can resolve your issue. Regards, Retrorespect
