caguy
I am a nervous user trying to confirm all is working. I have an HP pc with a C-drive and it's D-partition and an external USB L-drive with data (as well as the Maxtor with Express HD as USB K:drive). The Express HD window tells me I am backing up HP_Pavillion ©: and 2 other drives to Maxtor (K:). This sounds right and I am getting green dots on my restore calendar screen for each of the three drives (C, D, L). What should I be seeing when I use MS Explore to look at what Express HD is putting on the K: drive?? I see a folder structure, starting from the top Maxtor (K:), Retrospect Restore Points, Retrospect, RestorePoint5, 1-ResotorePoint5. I can not find any documentation explaining the file structure, file names or what I should see after creating 60 restore points over the past few months. What does RestorePoint5 mean? What does 1-RestorePoint5 mean? Would be great if the manual had a screen shot showing Explorer and the file structure on the Maxtor drive after many backups . . . should I not be looking at the K: drive and its contents, as long as I have green dots on the restore page. I'd feel more confident in the system if I understood the places it put things and the names it gives the folders/files and how they translate to dates and drive letters . . . Thank You. natew
Hi The data in the Retrospect restore points folder is compressed backup data and can only be accessed by Retrospect. You cannot open them and look inside. Everything you have described sounds perfect to me. Retrospect Express HD is backing up your hard disks properly. Thanks Nate
