anettis
I have been using a maxtor onetouch II with retrospect express hd 1.0.196 for backing up data files on my notebook every night. It seems to work relatively well and I have over 100 restore points available. I am upgrading to a new notebook and am wondering if these restore points will work on my new notebook once I install retrospect express HD? I am guessing it should work but would like a confirmation.
natew
Hi Retrospect will regognize the old backups that you made. You will be able to restore data from old restore points too however a full system restore will likely fail because you are using new hardware. Just do another backup on the new machine and you will be fine. Thanks Nate
anettis
Hi Nate - thanks for the info. I am only saving data files (as opposed to the entire system) so it sound like I am in good shape. I was just concerned that Retrospect might somehow only allow data to be restored to the original drive.
