lrichter
This error is described in the operations log as: data error in file using cyclic redundancy check. This occurs with one XP SP2 client that I used Registry Mechanic v 3 on. I think Reg. Mech. solved some problems but created others. I can't go back to any restore points and I absolutely can't back up the computer. Details: backup machine runs W2k, Retro 6.5.336 Single Server with Add-ins and backs up files on 50+ computers. I use Proactive Backup and the script is set to NOT back up system state information or security information. I only want to back up the working files for the users. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the client software; forgetting the client; and changing the client. The same behavior continues. I'm trying not to reinstall XP. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
natew
Hi Can you give some more specific information about what Retrospect is doing when this error occurs? Thanks Nate
lrichter
It turns out the hard drive was dying on this machine. It finally caused problems with other software and didn't get better after wiping and repaving. Replaced hard drive, no more problems. Thanks!
