mavraam
OK, I'm a complete NOOB so I hope this isn't too stupid. Here's what I want to do: 1) Nightly progressive backups to removable HD. 2) Weekly recycle to same. 3) Periodically, (not on any specific schedule) I want to swap the removable HD with another one. Here's what I THINK I need to do: 1) Set up nightly progressive and weekly recycle with HD 1. 2) The first time I swap to HD 2, do a New Media backup to start a second catalog set. I hope I have that right. Assuming I do, here's where I get confused: Next time I swap back to the original HD 1, does Retrospect automatically figure out that I'm back to the old HD and therefore knows to backup according to the first catalog? Am I on the right track here or am I missing the boat? Thanks in advance for any help!
natew
Hi You are close. You don't want to use new media backups. A new media backup creates a new backup set every time. That means you will have a new set every time you swap disks. You need to make two backup sets. One on each drive. Set your recycle backups to coincide with the day you rotate disks and you'll be all set. nate
