unclejoe
I have created a backup set and do a daily backup of " all files except cache" I notice that some folders are missing in the backup. These are in the Shared Documents folder and contain JPG fiiles. Eight of the ten folders are backed uo but not the other two. Any explanations or help to find out what is wrong. I am running 6.5.354. Thanks in advance.
natew
Hi Retrospect doesn't skip files without a reason. Are you doing backup or duplicate? How have you verified these files are missing? Thanks nate
unclejoe
I would agree with you that Retrospect does not skip files without a reason. What I am trying to do is find out why. I am doing a Backup. I do a daily "Normal Backup" of "all files except cache". I have also done a "Recycle". To determine what was saved, I looked at the backup drive in the "Retrospect Backup Folder" . Does Retrospect use the archive attribute bit on folders and files to determine what is to be added to a backup? Or does it compare dates?
unclejoe
Problem solved! When I initially used Retrospect Express (and did not know what I was doing) I did a volume backup. Subsequent to that I discovered Backup Sets and started using them. I did not realize that the Volume Backup display was a snap shot of the first backup only and that I had to do a restore selected setup to see my "missing files". Now that I have explored all the restore options I understand how things work. Thanks again
