bharris
I've been seraching for an asnwer to a possible scenario I've been concerned about. If I use mulitple tapes for one backup set that is for multiple volumes, what can be done to recover the flils if one of the tapes should have and error or be completely inaccessable? Can some of the backup set still be reconstructed from the other tapes? Soes the whole set become unusable? If I still have an index of the backup set, can I use that to recover files from tapes that are still readable? This is all on a Win XP machine with and Ultrium drive. Thanks in advance for any info. natew
Hi Yes, the data on any functional tapes will be fully restorable. In fact you will be able to recover any data from the damaged tape up to the point where it is damaged. One bad piece of media will not destroy the whole backup. Thanks Nate
