  1. I forgot to say the slowest one is from retro 10 and the quick one is from retro 9.... The backups them self are still quick and similar on 9 and 10
  2. I'm used to restore files from retrospect like 2-3 per week. But today with my last restore I had times like i didn't before. Can you "feel" the diference between the two on this example?
  3. Probably that happens when you propagate permissions on source. You can untick the option "use attribute modification date when matching"
  4. Retrospect doesn't "eat" RAM FYI. The performance is at the CPU... I have several servers (10.6 through 10.9) running Retro (9.x and 10.X) with no more than 4GB
  5. How many lines have you showing? Retrospect Prefs -> Console -> Show up to (500) lines it the ops log
  6. And the media (That Tape) isn't already full? Don't forget the compressed ratio !2:1 because of must discussed software compression
  7. I recently upgraded to Retro 10 on a new server with Mavs. I still have retro 9 on a old 10.6 xserve working with LTO and Fiber for archiving and weekly backups. So think buy slowly migration :-)
  8. All done! After rebuilding media set I restored an (big) folder and sucess! Bless LTO & Retrospect
  9. I use almost same hardware with almost no issues. Difference is on Software, we use Retro 9.
  10. Update2. Now the process is running with drive reading. IT Already swap the tape for another one.I Hope that now is ok. PS - Catalog file is huge, is about 14GB and still increasing.
  11. Update. I successfully started the Rebuild catalog process (moving the desired 3rd tape to drive) and is about 4GB and still doing (since 10PM last night). The weird stuff is the drive shows as idle (on monitor from the tape drive) and retrospect is like hanged. I still left it running because i see the retro engine process running and the new catalog file is still increasing
  12. Hello all, I'm restoring big data from a 4 TAPES LTO media set with about 1 year old, and on 2nd attempt from restoring all data the restore process doesn't go further on 3rd TAPE. It keeps saying reading and I waited about 1 day long. I also tried to rebuild catalog from the media set, but I get an error when I have to select folder of catalog destination. Any clues?
  13. D Day! So I'm going to restore almost a year backup day from several LTOs Scenario: - day by day backup (incremental) and last backups didn't run well as the space on LTOs filled up. So this last backup didn't complete snapshot also. Is it possible to rebuild a snapshot based on the tapes? - I want to restore only last version of each file/folder, but I'm encountering several folder that only appears in search, not in last backup. Any ideas? TY
  14. Ok so I will install version 10, and then doesn't work. Then you answer like this: "I warned you that probably be fine". I'm sorry but if I have to use (buying) version 11, I must have a guarantee that it will work. TY PS - I know this is a user to user forum, but you write as an employee.
  15. Hello, I don't know why, and when using retro 9 never failed. But now on retro 10, not all emails are sent when the backup finishes. It's random stuff, sometimes sends sometimes doesn't. Have you ever seen? TY

  17. I noticed the minute after I connected the LTO StorageLoader a slowness server!
  18. Same question days ago. "Agent Response: For the best Mavericks compatibility, please upgrade to Retrospect 10.5. You can view upgrade options athttp://www.retrospect.com/upgrade after entering your license code into the upgrade wizard."
  19. TY that makes sense and that way I can save space on Tapes. Not all differential on that week, only last.
  20. OK. So I have a Mac server with Mavs, Retro 10 doing daily bckps to a thunderbolt HDD, and a LTO5 storageloader. As you suggested Disk->Disk->Tape. So Tape will be backup of the backup of initial disk, right? On tapes will be the RDB files from the retrospect backups that I did earlier from initial working disk.
