  1. Hi all, I have a multiple OS (Mac and MS) environment and would like to know how to have scripts skip certain files based on the OS. For example, for my OS X machines I only want to back up the user's home folder, but for OS 9 I want everything backed up. As of right now I made three different Groups and scripts, one for each behavior. I have 5 weeks worth of backup sets, one set for each week. I currently run a recycle backup for all three scripts (scheduled for the same time) on Friday and normal backups the rest of the weeknights. What I think may be happening is the recycles are erasing each other. Is there a better way for me to accomplish different backup behavior based on the OS I am backing up? If you need clarification just let me know. Thank you in advanced.
  2. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone out there uses a Seagate STD624000N with Retrospect for Mac ver 5. According to Seagate the drive has a couple of Model names but only one of the names is on the list of compatible devices for Dantz. I know it works with an older version of retrospect for Mac (ver. 4.2) but I need to know if it will work with ver 5.x. Thank you for your help.
  3. Thank you for the info, at least now I know I'm not completely clueless.
  4. Anyone else have a response? I was hoping that this was a simple usabilty question. I just don't know how to activate new clients is all. Thank you.
  5. I thought that Retrospect 5 no longer had the 2GB limit. You may want to check the Retro 5 FAQ as I believe it talks about the limit there.
  6. Hi all, I have a server running Retrospect 4.x and I need to add a WinXP machine. According to Dantz I need to use client 5.6 on the Windows machine. I have downloaded and installed the 5.6 client. However, when I try to add it to the client pool I am unable to activate it. The option to activate is greyed out. I have a valid code, I just can't seem to use it. How do I go about activating the client? I am aware this is likely a very basic question, but I'll be darned if I'm having any luck figuring out what I need to so. Thanks for your help.
  7. I am seeing similar behavior except that I am in OS 10.1.5. Mine will even lose the drive in the middle of a backup (always at the point that it switches from copying to comparing) and just sit there until I unplug/replug the drive (hotswap) or kill the power on the drive and turn it back on again. I am on the latest version of Retrospect server. Thoughts?
  8. Hi all, Is there any way to extend the network timeout? I am running a VPN based on DSN on one side and ISDN on the other. When I try to run a backup (server is on the ISDN side) I get a network timeout within the first few minutes. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. If you have any questions feel free to let me know and I will do my best to clarify Thank you.
