Guest
I installed the Retrospect 6 Express that came with my Maxtor OneTouch 250G USB2 harddrive. The drive is connected to a Linksys NSLU2 which acts as a Samba file server. I did an initial backup to a file in a private folder on the drive mounted as Z:. The backup went fine and created Z:\backups\Backup Set A.rbf with 10+GB of data. When I try to backup again, I get an incomplete execution and and entry in the log that says: + Executing Immediate Backup at 7/31/2004 4:34 PM Can't access Backup Set Backup Set A, error -1100 (invalid handle) 7/31/2004 4:34:45 PM: Execution incomplete I can successfully open the backup set for a file restore and attempting to recreate the catalog from the backup set says the catalog in the backup set is valid. Why do I get this consistent failuer? I'm running Windows 2000 Professional on a ThinkPar T21 with 512M and a 30G hard drive connected to the network via a 100Mb ethernet adapter. natew
Hi Make sure you have the latest updates and firmware for the samba server. Samba emulates Windows and does a good job of it most of the time. However there are some cases where it doesn't handle all of the windows commands properly. You might have better luck using a "disk" backup set rather than "file" Thanks Nate
