ReneGarneau
Hi, I'm getting the message that the drive hasn't been cleaned for 18 hours. I put the cleaning tape in, it stays in there for a couple of seconds and then it ejects; then the next day I get the message that the drive hasn't been cleaned for 17 hours. Am I doing this right? Just put the cleaning tape in, let it eject on its own and its done? Is that right?
AmyJ
Tape drives vary in the cleaning proceedure. You should refer to your hardware documentation for instructions on properly cleaning your drive. One thing to note on the tape drive cleaning counter: When you quit Retrospect it will report how many hours it has been since the last cleaning reminder. Retrospect for Macintosh has no way of knowning whether or not you actually cleaned the drive. The cleaning reminder interval can be changed under Special > Preferences. ReneGarneau
Thanks, I'll have to check that manual (it's a LaCie Drive, Macintosh).
