OS X clients don't backup

Recommended Posts

I am running Retrospect 5 on a Blue and White G3 running OS 9.2.2. When I try to backup the OSX clients it starts to run OK and files begin to be backup. After about a minute or so it pops up with a Net Retry. It stay there for about a minute and then goes on to the next client. At this point the client that it was trying to backup looses all network connectivity. The client is unable to access the Internet, email, etc. The client is able to run applicatiions locally but moves very slowly. In order to restore network connectivity the client must be restarted. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What version, exactly, of Retrospect are you running?

Are you running Airport or real wires?

What operating system, exactly, on backup server and client?

Try a quick test backup to a file backup set stored on the computer running the Retrospect application; same results?

Is networking totally lost? Do you get any errors in Retrospect? Elsewhere? Check the network preferences; anything look strange? What happens when you try to connect to the client after the failure? What error is reported? Is pitond running or stopped?

Thanks,
