I've experienced thousands of "bad backup set header found" errors for one of three machines backed up with Retrospect 5.0 for Workgroups, Mac version. My backup machine is a PowerMac Dual GHz with 1.5GB RAM running Mac OS X 10.1.3. I'm not sure what ethernet card it has, but it is the standard built-in card (10/100/1000BaseT). The LAN is 100BaseT. The backup device is a BUSlink 120GB Firewire hard drive (FW120 72E). The "problem client" is a PowerMac G4 dual 533 MHz with 384MB RAM running OS 9.2.

I have performed several successful backups of two OS X 10.1.3 machines, one of which is running the Retrospect server.

When I added a Mac OS 9.2 machine to the source list, the first night 9,836 files were backed up OK but 13,470 files generated the "bad backup set header found" error during the validation phase. (E.g. "Bad backup set header found (0xb8d11f3f at 21,624,605)")
