Teac SCSI CDRW Replacement drives

Recommended Posts

Some of our customers on MacOS 9.x are replacing their SCSI CDRW for a 'generic' release from Teac.

http://www.teac.com/DSPD/support/scsi_cdrw/scsi_cdrw.htm

The unit works correctly under Finder and Toast 5.

There is no mention of this unit in the Support Index, and Teac makes no inference to MacOS support or compatibility.

Teac also does NOT mention which specific mechanism is used (theirs or someone else's) so inference can be made.

Any feedback would be helpful for support on our older 4.x and 5.x customer base.

Regards,

Without a make/model on the internal hardware, it is not possible to know whether or not the drive will be supported by Retrospect currently. If Retrospect is installed, the hardware information can be obtained at:

Configure > Devices > Device Status and list Vendor, Product and Version for your drive.

The next release of Retrospect is expected to dramatically change drive support, allowing us to support more drives then ever. If the drive(s) is not currently compatible, it may be supported in the next release. We have no ETA available at this time.
