Hang while accessing VXA Drive

Recommended Posts

Twice since installing Retrospect WorkGroup 5 (release) I've had the app hang while accessing a firewire VXA drive.

In the first instance, it was running a backup script and hung while rewinding the drive to perform a verification. I force quit the app, but on restart it could not see the drive. I had to manually eject the tape and power cycle the VXA drive before Retrospect would see it again.

In the second instance, I was simply using the Tools:Devices panel to eject a tape. A force quit was again necessary, but this time the drive was visible when I restarted the app.

I had been using the Preview version of Retrospect 5 since it came out and it never had this problem.

Has anyone else had Retrospect hang while using a VXA firewire drive?

System:

MacOS X 10.1.3 PowerMac QuickSilver 2001 G4/733

VXA-1 Firewire

I had the same eject problem under Retrospect 4.3, so it may not be new.

I simply push the button on the front to eject, in order to avoid the hang.

Sorry, I should have tested that during beta. (Several times burnt, more

times shy.)
