As many of us do not backup or use the DVD-RAM feature of Retrospect, perhaps a preference to disable that feature (and thereby enabling eject) may be the answer. Peter J. The Dantz hardware guru I spoke with at Macworld said they know exactly what's happening, but that there is nothing that they can do to change this until Apple makes the necessary hooks (he actually explained it in detail to me, but it was over my head and months ago).
