How to execute EasyScript immediatly

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I would like to know how to execute an EasyScrip immediately. Another wards at a time that it is not scheduled. I have a script that I would like

to test. I have verified it just fine. If I click on Run at the top pull down and click on EasyScript Backup it looks like it's running but nothing

gets backed up. It scans the clients and the current PC which is defined in the script but nothing gets backed up. I ran it with the Recycle option

and during the backup it always says zero done.

Thank you,

What specifically does the Operations Log say for this execution? What do you see on the screen. Are there any dialog boxes?

+ Retrospect version 6.0.206

Launched at 2/14/2003 8:17 AM

I also checked my Selector and it has everything checked except for empty folders. After I get it to select the files I will be needing to find out why it isn't selecting the empty folders and how I can get it to select them.

Thank you,

Gary

Retrospect will not select empty folders in a Preview window. This is by design.

Try setting your backup to not use your custom selector, but to use the default "All Files" selector. Does Retrospect begin to backup the files?

The most likely cause is an incorrectly configured selector that is excluding all files. Selectors are tricky. You need to make sure that the selection criteria themselves are correct, and then you need to make sure they've been linked correctly.

A good rule of thumb is to make sure that unrelated criteria are linked by "or." For example, how do you select a folder whose name is "Applications" AND whose name is "System Folder?" It's impossible. But it makes much more sense to select a folder whose name is "Applications" OR whose name is "System Folder."

Another good thing to remember is to "check" your Selector. Do this by, in your Selector edit window, selecting "Check Selector" from the Selector menu. Choose a volume and Retrospect will apply your Selector to that volume in real-time. This will save you having to wait until a backup to see if it's been set up correctly.

Hi,

I finally started to back up the files. I think I figured it out. When I checked the selector I created it looked like it was working just fine.

I had two selectors in this script. One I created for the files specific to my PC and the generic selector that comes with Retrospect called

All files Except Cache Files. When I combined the two and only used my selector it started working. I guess it doesn't work even though it does

allow two selectors.

Thank you,

Gary
