rcowell Posted January 22, 2003 Report Share Posted January 22, 2003 Hello I'm using retrospect 6.0 multi-server and am trying to do nightly backups to a tape. I've got 3 tape drives in the system. How do I specify in retrospect which drive to backup to? When creating the jobs it seems like I only have the option of specifying 'backup to tape' ... Thanks for your help. AmyJ Posted January 22, 2003 Report Share Posted January 22, 2003 It isn't possible to specify which drive to use ahead of time. If there is a specific drive you'd like to use, you can either pre-name each tape so that Retrospect is forced to find the right tape (this is tricky - if you name the tape wrong, Retrospect won't use it). You can also set up a immediate backup of a small directory or a few files. When Retrospect scans devices, you will be prompted to select a tape from the available drives. Select the tape you'd like to use, let Retrospect name and erase the tape, copy a few files and stop the backup. That tape is now a member of the set and Retrospect will look for that specific tape the next time this set is used. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
