eoberle
I have an HP 1553A 6-magazine tape autoloader. It used to be (in retrospect 4.0) that it would, during a scripted execution, automatically switch to new blank tapes. But no matter what I do, this doesn't seem to work anymore. My backup scripts just hang on the new media prompt. I have Retrospect 5.0 workgroup backup (the 20-user) license, which I understood could do this. Dantz doesn't seem to have anywhere where I can simply ask if this feature has been tested.....is anyone else having any luck? Thanks, Eric Oberle
IrenaS
What kind of SCSI card is this drive attached to?

eoberle
It's a mac g3 internal scsi.... The drive seems to work fine, though......the problem is just that the autoloader doesn't engage automatically (which sorta defeats the purpose of an autoloader!) IrenaS
A B&W G3? This computer shipped with the Adaptec 2940U2B, which is functionally the same as the 2940U2W. Neither of these cards are supported by Adaptec under OS X, unfortunately: http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/product/markeditorial.html?cat=%2fTechnology%2fMacintosh&prodkey=mac_osx_info&type=Technology
eoberle
No, it's a beige g3, running os x 10.1.3, using the on-board scsi. The problem is definitely not a system level conflict, given that I'm able to use the drive just fine....it's rather the autoloader that's not working correctly. That might be a LUN issue at the scsi level, I suppose, but it seems like its simply a matter of incomplete device support for the HP drive. Is anyone having any luck with autoloaders?
