R 5.0 mac won't switch media autoloader unattended

Recommended Posts

I have an HP 1553A 6-magazine tape autoloader. It used to be (in retrospect 4.0) that it would, during a scripted execution, automatically switch to new blank tapes. But no matter what I do, this doesn't seem to work anymore. My backup scripts just hang on the new media prompt. I have Retrospect 5.0 workgroup backup (the 20-user) license, which I understood could do this. Dantz doesn't seem to have anywhere where I can simply ask if this feature has been tested.....is anyone else having any luck?

No, it's a beige g3, running os x 10.1.3, using the on-board scsi. The problem is definitely not a system level conflict, given that I'm able to use the drive just fine....it's rather the autoloader that's not working correctly. That might be a LUN issue at the scsi level, I suppose, but it seems like its simply a matter of incomplete device support for the HP drive. Is anyone having any luck with autoloaders?
