scg
Dell Latitude Win2K Pro Retrospect 6 (trial version for testing) w/ 40GB External Maxtor USB drive. Reading over the disaster recovery intructions, I see that in order to recover the system you have to: Install Windows 2000 Install Retrospect 6 Recover from a backup set that was created. ----------------------------------------- My questions are... 1) Can I recover directly from a backup set via some sort of boot disk to access the USB drive. No Win2K/Retrospect install??? 2) Can I plug the USB drive into another machine to create the recovery CD from a backup set? Thanks
AmyJ
In reply to: 1) Can I recover directly from a backup set via some sort of boot disk to access the USB drive. No Win2K/Retrospect install??? Retrospect needs to be running in a bootable Windows OS for restore. You can also create a disaster recovery CD to boot your machine and start a restore wizard. See the Users Guide for complete information. In reply to: 2) Can I plug the USB drive into another machine to create the recovery CD from a backup set? The Disaster Recovery CD requires components specific to the machine that the CD is being created for. You must create the DR image on the machine for which you'll use the DR CD.
