jerold_wallis
Does retrospect 5 support both DVD-R and DVD-RW for the Apple superdrive (pioneer DVD-R 104)? The hardware database is ambiguous on this. DVD-RW is specifically listed as supported on http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=compatibility_list_detail&id=8587 but there is no mention of DVD-R pro or con. (CD-RW is explicitly listed as not supported for this drive) Note that some previous posters seem to be having confusion over the same issue, without clear discussion of this. If DVD-R is supported, is there some multi-session capability similiar to that sometimes used for CD-R? Or does a new disk need to be supplied to extend the backup each time? The tech note above says the write speed is slow for DVD-RW. Any idea how slow (ie, how long to write a single 4.7 gig disk?) AmyJ
All media types are supported except CD-RW in this drive. DVD-R media is treated in the same way as CD-R media in that Retrospect can burn multiple sessions to a single DVD-R and span discs as they fill.
