Verifying just one tape in a backup set?

Last night there was a power failure after my automatic backup completed.

The 2d tape of a two-tape backup set was in the drive at the time.

This morning I went to do an immediate backup to the same backup set. The tape dialog box says that the tape is 'erased' but the description of the backup set says that there are 9gb of data on the tape.

Is there a way to do a verify on just the 2d tape of the backup set? It looks that it will take 4 hours for the verify of the first tape to complete. Since the first tape was not in the drive at the time of the power failure, this seems to be wasted time.

When starting the verify, when Retrospect asks for the first member, mark it as missing to start with the second member. After verification, you'll need to mark member one as found through Configure > Backup Sets > Properties > Members.

Keep in mind that if the tape is coming up as erased, a verify will not be able to read the tape. The power failure may have damaged the tape header. If all other tapes are readable except the tape in the drive at the time of the power failure, a data recovery shop may be your only option if the data is needed.

If the data is not needed you can mark member two as missing and continue on to member three. Any data from member two, that still exists on your hard drive, will be backed up to member three.
