Back to CDRW

Cannot backup to CDRW.

On attempting to run a backup, CD eject with error message "Retrospect cannot get full access priviledes to your CD/DVD. make sure that no other applications are using the currently mounted disc and open the device status window"

As far as I can see, no other apps are holding the CDRW.

I do have both Roxio 5.1, Direct CD and Nero installed on an XP system.

Thanks

Make sure there are no pre-formatted CD's in the drive and try again.

Next, disable any non-Microsoft processes and startup items by going to Start > Run and typing msconfig.

In the System Configuration Utility, go to Services and hide all Microsoft Services. Disable all others. Repeat for Startup. Reboot and try to access the drive through Retrospect. This should help rule out third party software conflicts.

If you can access the drive, start enabling Services and Startup items again a few at a time to determine which Service or Startup item is loading a driver for your device.
