Backup starts at wrong time

Recommended Posts

We have Retrospect 5.0.236 (recently upgraded from 5.0.205) running on a beige G3 Server with Mac OS 9.1 and ASIP 6.3.3. QuickMail Pro server is also running. The backup device is an external HP DDS4 connected to an Adaptec 29160 with the hard drives connected to the SE port internally.

A recycle backup is scheduled to run each weeknight at 9:00pm. Instead, it is starting the following morning; sometimes at 9:45am and sometimes 10:15am. In the log, it sometimes shows the automatic launch and 'copying' starting at 9:00pm, but nothing happening until the morning. On other occasions it doesn't even launch until the morning. The time is correct on the server, as is the timezone (London) and is set to use Apple's european time server.

We were previously running Retro 4.1 with a DDS2 connected to the onboard external SCSI with no problems, other than insufficient capacity on the tapes, hence the move to the DDS4. Will 4.1 properly recognise the DDS4? We assumed it wouldn't, which is why we upgraded to 5.0. Anyone any ideas why this timeshift is happening?
