srv18 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Share Posted February 14, 2011 Hello, I am using retrospect to backup to my HP Ultrium 460 tape drive from a RAID 0 which has 4 SCSI 300GB 15k disks. I noticed that every 4GB or so the tape stops, then after a few seconds it rewinds to the position where it stopped and resumes the backup. At the time when the tape drive isn't working the activity monitor in Retrospect is saying: Writing index... Is there a way to avoid this so that the tape drive doesn't stop? It looses quite some time doing this every 4GB and it also doesn't do any good to the tape itself since it's constantly rewinding it.
