mboatner
I have a G4 with an Adaptec 2940UW SCSI card with a AIT1, AIT2 and AIT3 drive chained together. I am not getting the 208GB capacity from my AIT-3 drive. All I get is 96.7GB. ADK 2.0.104, Ver 4.3. I know AIT-3 is rather new......Any suggestions?? AmyJ
The following Knowledgebase articles will fully explain the capacity issues you are experiencing: Tape Capacity FAQ My tape drive vendor promised me more capacity per tape than I am getting in my actual backups. What is going on? Why are my DAT tapes filling up sooner than I expected? What is the point of the "Set Capacity" button? Also, AIT-3 is 100 gig native capacity. If you are not using compression, or backing up compressible data, getting 96.7 gig on the tape is pretty good. If you are using compression, the above articles will be able to answer any questions you have.
mboatner
My other 2 AIT devices use hardware compression and seem to work fine without software compression turned on. Is the Sony SDX-700C different?
AmyJ
No - it is not different. If you are not getting the expected capacity, the referenced Knowledgebase articles can explain more clearly, and in more detail, then I can in this forum.
