1.8 Million Files

It seems like my upgrade to 6.0 did not help me at all and only cost me $600+.

My problem. When I try to back up my linux file system the Retrospect program starts to count the files. When it gets to about 1.8 million it says my system is out of memory and resources. Writes and error log and that is that. No backup for my data.

I tried to call technical support but they wanted 60 bucks to help me with a program I bought just last week. (Very poor CS).

So now I'm stuck with a program that does me no good and no back ups of my critical data. I'm very disappointed with Dantz.

Linux has _lots_ of small files, which requires a tremendous amount of memory to scan and match. As you stated, you have 1.8 million files to be scanned in one session, which would probably require well over a gig of physical memory.

It would be helpful to include how much memory you actually have, when referring to lack of memory errors.
