MarVer
Hello, my question must have been answered many times, but I seem not able to find it on the forum. So here again: On new internal HDs I cloned my existing volumes. Retrospect needs to be aware that the volumes by the same name are the ones it should be working with. It does not, it's been made not to, I know. But how can I get around this? I use quite a few subvolumes in different subgroups for different destinations. And I do not want to create all that again... I dearly hope there is some clever trick to substitute the old for the new volumes. Anyone knows how? Best regards, Marius PS I use version 61112 on Mac OS 10..4.11, PM G5 Dual etc
Lennart_T
Every volume gets a unique ID by the operating system. Retrospect uses that ID to distinguish different volumes with the same name from each other. I don't think there is any clever trick to get around this. Sorry. MarVer
Thanks Lennart, I feared it to be so. That means the end of my use of the program. It's been a struggle much of the time (many, many years). So now for something simple and adequate! All the best, Marius
CallMeDave
Retrospect needs to be aware that the volumes by the same name are the ones it should be working with. It does not, it's been made not to, I know. But how can I get around this? Perhaps if you made a block level copy, the unique ID's would follow. I've never tested this; it's just a thought. Type "man asr" in Terminal for more information. Dave
