Ramon88 2 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 Does anybody successfully have Retrospect initiate Wake On LAN for a client? We seem to have no success so far, while we can wake up those machines by a regular WOL command (not involving Retrospect). I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned elsewhere on the forum. It would be very nice to have this working (as well as the 'sleep after backup' function). Used versions: Windows Multi Server 7.7.325, Windows client 7.7.106 and OSX client 6.3.028. Server OS used is Windows 2008 R2 STD x64. Client OS's are various: (OSX 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 and Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2003, 2008 and 2008 R2. Ramon88 2 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 Thanks Russ, I wasn't sure that was still current, we only upgraded to 7.7 recently (7.7.325 to be exact). Too bad it's still broken. However the program should be relatively easy to fix if it times out too quickly. At least one would think so.
Richy_Boy 18 Report post Posted July 12, 2010 (edited) Here's another link about it: http://forums.dantz.com/showtopic.php?tid/33791/ and another.. http://forums.dantz.com/showtopic.php?tid/33284/post/135456/hl/sleep/fromsearch/1/ Still no progress on this, which is odd as I would assume if *some* work was being done in this area of the product they *might* have completed it by now... It was on their 'to do' list back in '03 http://forums.dantz.com/showtopic.php?tid/22348/post/86656/hl/sleep/fromsearch/1/#86656 Rich Edited July 12, 2010 by Guest
Ramon88 2 Report post Posted July 12, 2010 Well, to be honest those topics are more about "Sleep" and not so much about waking up a client. But indeed, one would like to have it all in one working package as they are both relevant when trying to run with a greener footprint. Actually I think it's quite strange this has not been implemented (successfully) yet...
bullmoon 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2013 All those links above are dead and WOL still doesn't work - kinda thinking this is my last version of Retrospect.
Richy_Boy 18 Report post Posted April 3, 2013 Really, is that with 8.1? It's not something I've tested for a while due to it not working under 7.7... it can't be that hard, I'm sure it used to work on an old Mac version! Rich
