groom failed error -1017 (insufficient permissions)

Recommended Posts

Backups are not grooming properly (set to keep 1 backup, but grooming doesn't happen - backup sets are huge). When I try to initiate a groom from the backup set, I get a error -1017 (insufficient permission) and grooming fails.

I have rebuilt the catalog and still get error

Retrospect error code error -3407 (unexpected provider error)

Reported by function kMsg_DirScan

Mailbox provider error. There is a problem connecting to the mailbox. Check:

1. Microsoft Exchange may not be running.

2. The mailbox may not exist. If the mailbox has been deleted, this is normal.

3. The mailbox store for this mailbox may not be mounted.

Check its status in the Exchange manager.

This backup set does not have any Exchange mailboxes.

Is the user running Retrospect set up correctly?

The manual for Retrospect 7.5 states:

"Make this account a member of Domain Users, Administrators, Backup Operators and Domain Admins. Also give it an Excahnge mailbox. In Exchange 5.5, you must use User Manager for Domains and Microsoft Exchange Administrator for some of these tasks.

Send an e-mail message to this Retrospect backup account to initialize it in Exchange."
