tim2008 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2010 Hello, we've got a Retrospect Multi Server Version 7.6.123 Drivers-Update and Hot-Fix Version 7.6.2.101. Is it normal, that a inkrementel backup of 88 MS Exchange Mailboxes needs 7 hours? Thats the only backup we do with retrospect! Thanks Regards Tim
Mayoff 124 Report post Posted February 16, 2010 Mailbox backup can be slow. The more messages in the mailbox, the longer it will take. Backup of the exchange database should be much faster.
dwthomas111 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 Am I to understand that I have a choice to backup either the Exchange Mailboxes or the First Storage Group? If so what is the difference?
Mayoff 124 Report post Posted March 24, 2010 Storage Group contains all of the mailboxes and has to be restored in one chunk, replacing the storage group. Mailbox backup contains individual mailboxes and individual mail can be restored.
dwthomas111 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2010 does it make any sense to backup both? Or is it preferential to do one over the other. If I have to restore anything, I would expect it would for a single user that deleted an e-mail they did not want to and was extremely important, though I have not had to restore anything for exchange over the 9 years that I have been here. (knock on wood) :content:
rhwalker 2 Report post Posted March 24, 2010 Just wait until you have litigation discovery papers served on you. Make sure you have a document retention policy in place, and that it's followed. Russ
