Guest
I'm looking through the forums to find out if Retrospect 6 will backup the System and Registry files in Win 98 SE. I am looking for a reliable backup solution for my home office desktop computer. I have a second internal 40 GB hard drive (Western Digital), partitioned to match my first HD, for backups. If I run Retrospect while in Windows, will it back up the system and registry? Another backup product would only backup if the user goes into DOS. What about Retrospect? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Barbara Money
Guest
Yes, Retrospect 6.0 will back up the registry and system files by default. This can be toggled on and off in the options for your backup: Click the options button when setting up your script or immediate backup, click Windows > System. You'll see options there to turn registry backup on or off. Retrospect has been specifically designed to be able to back up open system files while Windows is running, not requiring that you go into DOS. In fact, Retrospect won't run in DOS at all! Guest
Excellent! From what I've been reading, Retrospect sounds like just what I'm looking for, though it does appear to be very complex. Maybe a good thing? Barbara
