(1) What hardware platform running Mac OS X Server 10.5.8 (PPC or Intel)?

(2) What type of media set?

(3) If (2) is "tape", what are the hardware specifics of the drive/autoloader/HBA card, etc.?

(4) During what phase of the backup did this error occur? Was it while the client was being scanned, after the scan prior to backup, etc.?

The server is running on a 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon x-serve. It is writing the data to file on an x-raid connected through fiber channel.

Based on the Activity Report, after scan since it lists number of files and size and indicates 0 files and 0 kb were completed.

I had many PC clients of my server with this error. The problem disappeared after I did a clean install of the latest version (about 2 months ago). The problem may lurk in preference and configuration files, so I mean a really clean install and starting from scratch.
