rhwalker
Sorry, I can't provide that level of training. I would have to recable our server to reattach the Sony DAT drive. Get a local unix geek to come in and help. Russ
patdog
I had the Sony tech on the phone for an hour but could not get the sonytape or sprobe to recognize the drive through terminal. Bought and installed new scsi cable. Still not recognizeable by retrospect. Only on Mac system profile. The drive must be DOA. EMC tech suggested the new cable, and trying it on another computer but I don't have one that the ATTO pci card will fit on. Do you know of someone that can retrieve the info off the DAT tape and burn it to a disc? Thanks, Pat
patdog
The sony tech suggested that the problem may be with my OSX system on my hard drive. He suggested the only alternative if I didn't have access to another Mac to try it on was to put in an internal drive and try it. I bought and installed a SATA hard drive in the G5. Loaded the original G5 OSX software(10.3.?), the ATTO driver, and Retrospect. Worked like a charm. It was my 10.5.8 system all the time. Thanks Russ for all you efforts. The only problem is that the tape is now stuck in the seagate drive.
