"Not been backed up in 7 Days" Message

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question, as of now, running 8.1 is there a way to alter the message that is displayed to users when they have not been backed up in X amount of days?

I believe now it says something to the effect of "You have not been backed up in _ days, please contact your system administrator"

Sure. Depends on how determined you are.

With an appropriate text editor (I suggest BBEdit or its free sibling, TextWrangler), open:

/Applications/Retrospect\ Client.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Localizable.strings

and edit to your heart's content. You are on your own as to support. The messages vary depending on client version, and your work will be overwritten with each client update.

See:

Text Wrangler

Good luck.

You haven't provided any information as to your client version, nor have you provided the exact message you are seeing so there is no way for us to discover what client version you are using. My telepathy abilities have faded with age.

The client that is on most users computer is windows 7.6.107. ... The message that people are receiving is, "Your computer has not been backed up in __ days, please contact your system administrator"

Ah, first mention that it's a Windows client whose message you want to change. Sorry, can't help you there.

The message is coming from the Windows client. Versions on the Retrospect console and engine are pretty much irrelevant.
