james1949
I see others have trouble reading rdb files. Let me tell of my experience. Running W-XP with Retrospect 7.6 back up to Iomega 500gb external. Had presumed head crash due to power surge. assume that bootlog was corrupted. Wiped out windows and NTFS formatting of main drive. Recovery bootfix could not find a windows install on computer, C-drive was no longer formatted. Had to do a new install of windows. New install of Retrospect 7.6 Found 346 gb of .rdb files on Omega but could not access. Tried to rebuild catalog but would not read files. Stmbled upon Retrospect 7.6 function find files. Navigated to subdirectory on external drive containing .rdb files Retrospect would not read files. The OK button was grayed out and would not click. Navigated up two levels in directory structure and OK button went live. Clicked OK to "Find Files" from there, it was just recreate catalog and restore files. Did a complete roll back to day before crash and everything back on computer. Step that I did not see mentioned in forum was to "Find Files" before attempting catalog recreate. Worked for me, good luck to you. James
