shayman Posted April 17, 2009 Report Share Posted April 17, 2009 I am using Retrospect 7.5 SBS Edition, on a SBS 2003 SP1 server, and trying to backup a single users Exchange 2003 mailbox, the size of his mailbox is approx 8 GB. I am getting warnings during the backup and a error regarding checksum. Can't load source session tree for 17/04/2009 12:00 PM, error -641 (chunk checksum didn't match) Could somebody please look at the log below and advise on both issues if possable. Is this a big issue eg: is the backup alright?? how do I fix.. Mayoff Posted April 22, 2009 Report Share Posted April 22, 2009 Create a new backup set and save the catalog file to a different disk. Maybe we are having trouble with that disk. It is also possible the config75.dat file is damaged but that is not very likely. You can try to remove that file and try Retrospect again. This will tell you if it is a damaged config file or not. Orginally I had the cat file on an external HDD we use for backup, yesterday I created a new script and Cat on the local c:\ still the same core error. Are there any exchange settings that need to be changed on the SBS server, to allow retro to work. Other smaller mail boxes seem to backup fine. Are there any more enhanced logging I can send ?? It sounds like Retrospect is trying to load the catalog file into memory for the verify and corruption is found. How much RAM do you have? How much free space on the C: disk? That is the location of your backup data too. Why are you using a file backup set? Most people do not use file backup sets anymore. Performance and overall stability are better with disk backup sets. Could you please provide comment here. Also now that I am creating a disk backup it is creating approx 15 700mb or so files for a mail box of this size, I assume it is Ok to write these directly to the external HDD which is what I have done.
