Dimetrodon
I've got a 2 year old MyBook (MDL: WD5000E032) connected to my Windows XP PC via USB. It's worked fine until recently when the battery backup on my system motherboard failed, forcing the BIOS to restore to its factory defaults. I've replaced the battery and now have the BIOS configured to run correctly, however Windows now sees my MyBook as an "Unknown" USB device. It tries to install it, but no joy, and the MyBook no longer shows up as a drive. Is there a BIOS setting that I need to change in order to run the MyBook? Or something else. The MyBook documentation says that installation should be automatic. Thanks. Edited March 31, 2009 by Guest
Mayoff
Have you tried contacting the company that makes the MyBook hardware?
Dimetrodon
Retrospect is the software that came bundled with my Western Digital MyBook purchase, but maybe I need to contact WD directly. Thanks for the tip.
