ecrm
Would it be possible to send the selector to the client first and only scan based on that criteria? I'm under the impression the snapshot looks at the whole volume after anyway. regards, -dave
Richy_Boy
Our company has 90% laptops which suffer horribly from this full scan before the backup kicks off due to limited drive performance. From my understanding the User>Backup priority slider in the Client is only taken into account during the backup process - not the initial scanning process. Is this right? If so, it would help greatly if the scan could be throttled back also, or even better, some kind of folder based checksum process put in place to make this scan as efficient as possible. Richy_Boy
Any response to this EMC? We're having staff pulling the network cable on their laptops as the SCAN is killing the performance of their machine. Rich
Mayoff
The slider bar doesn't do anything with the current versions. It is a left over UI item that is disabled. Retrospect looks at the computer activity (mouse/keyboard) and throttles the performance. Scanning is always a heavy performance hit, but after the scan, user activity will have priority over the backup activity. I usually can't even tell I am being backed up.
