Pioneer DVR-116D Compatibility

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if any Retrospect 6 users have tried one of the current generation Pioneer optical drives, specifically DVR-116D. I just bought one as a replacement for my internal superdrive on a Mac G5 running Leopard (10.5.6).

Retrospect does not recognize it on my system. I've been able to manually configure it for CD+R (Imation and Sony), but all attempts to get it to configure for DVD+R (Verbatim and Maxell) and DVD+R DL (Verbatim) media fail.

I have RDU 6.1.15.101 loaded and am using Retrospect 6.1.230.

My guess is that I will have to wait for EMC to release another RDU or try to find another DVR-115DBK. I know those work because I have an external of that model. No problems with DL backups to that one using any of the more recent RDUs.

Thanks.
