waldorfm Posted December 12, 2008 Report Share Posted December 12, 2008 Hello, I cannot move tapes from the Library Slots to the drive. The LTO-2 drive appears as a separate item in the Storage Device Status view and is not listed as an item belonging to the Library. Moving tapes between the import/export and tape library slots, which appears as items of the Library works fine. The library is partitioned as logical libraries, each having it's assigned drive. The FC drive and library are on the same SCSI ID, different LUN. I have other Retrospect servers connected to the same Library were the setup works fine. I have spend a lot of time to troubleshoot this issue, trying all kinds of configuration options, and I'm sure now that problem is with the Retrospect Device Driver (RDU). Retropsect 7 and also 7.6, which I'm evaluating, have this problem. As soon as the device driver version for the Library in the Storage Devices Environment view is version 1.08 the tape drive separates from the Library storage item. Unfortunately an older RDU file for 7.6 is not available. It seems RDU 7.0.6.108 is the last working version of the device driver working with the IBM Ultrium 3584. Unfortunately it's not available for 7.6. I cannot upgrade. The device listing is as below. In 7.6 the drive appears as a different item, not connected to the Library. That could be why I cannot move any tapes to the drive. I installed the older RDU file, but it does not show up in the log, and the device list shows even an older versions of the driver (1.40/1.06) than what should be in the update.
