Linux mounts not to be backed up

Recommended Posts

Can I somehow setup retrospect to not backup mounts on a Linux client? I know I can exclude folders and so on in both client and server but is there a way to exclude backup of Linux mounts in general?

Best regards,

Why would you want to do that? It's not uncommon for even parts of the OS such as /boot and /var to be on mounted filesystems. And generally data is stored in directories like /home that is often stored on a mounted filesystem.

Anyway, one option that might work for non-system directories is to put all your mounts inside one single directory, such as /mnt. You could then use symlinks to those directories to get them to appear in other places. Retrospect should backup the symlinks as files and not follow them to their targets.
