longto
We have a Retrospect server (7.5) running on a windows XP machine to backup around 20 PCs, and one Mac. The Mac used to run Mac OS 10.4, client 6.1.122, and all were working until the Mac was updated with OS 10.5. What happens now is that whenever the server starts to communicate to the Mac, the communication fails and we have to either cancel the operation at the server or shut down Retrospect. Attempts to reconnect to the (Mac) client afterward will return an 505 error (backup client reserved). I have tried both client 6.1.122. and 6.1.130, but none works so far. Would appreciate if anyone has a solution for this. Thanks,
Mayoff
Are you using the OS X firewall? Make sure the client has been added to the firewall.
blm14
Two suggestions: 1) Uninstall the 6.1.122 client, reboot, install the 6.1.130 client, reboot. 2) On the server, under preferences -> clients -> macOS, make sure the "backup ACLs on intel macintoshes" is DISABLED. longto
Thanks very much - the ACL setting is what I have been missing. It is working now.
